What are cookiesand what they do
Cookies are small text files that the sites visited by theuser send directly to his terminal (usually the browser), where they are storedbefore being re-transmitted to the same site on the next visit of the sameuser. While browsing a site, a user can even get cookies from other sites orweb servers on his terminal (so-called third-party cookies); this is becausethe website visited can have elements as, for example, pictures, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains that reside on servers other thanthe one on which you find the page you requested. In other words, these arecookies that are set by a website other than the one you are currentlyvisiting.
Cookies may be limited to the duration of a single browsingsession (session cookies), and then turns off automatically when the user closesthe browser; or they may have a predetermined duration and, in this case, willremain active and stored on your hard drive until that date, gatheringinformation during different browsing sessions (persistent cookies).
